Imagine strolling along a British beach in Dorset, part of an area famous for dinosaur finds, and seeing a dragon skull the size of a London bus. While I’d like to think some folks are still naive enough to believe, even for a second, that this could be real…the jaded 21st-Centurian inside me eschews that possibility. Instead, I am guessing that those who had the good fortune to find this crafted relic immediately started scouring their own skulls, trying to figure out what it could be promoting. Likely, one would think pretty quickly that Game of Thrones might be behind this stunt. And one would be right.
No, dragons are not real…but that doesn’t make this PR initiative any less successful. It’s one more very cool campaign element that continues to fan the fire of GOT frenzy. Daenerys Targaryen would be proud.
