The Grinch? He’s GRRREAT!

We all know how great Dr. Seuss’ animated TV Christmas Classic “The Grinch” is…but did you know that the booming voice behind that movie’s signature song is Tony the Tiger? That’s GRRREAT! Yes, Thurl Ravenscroft – the man who voiced Tony the Tiger in Frosted Flakes commercials for five decades – is the uncredited voice of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” Many have mistakenly assumed it was sung by Boris Karloff. Once you make the connection between the Grinch and Tony the Tiger, however, there’s no mistaking the vocal stylings of Mr. Ravenscroft.

Mr. Ravenscroft (who surely had one of the greatest names in history) passed away in 2005…but long after Frosted Flakes removed “sugar” from its name and ad copy, his legacy lives on in a song with some of the best lyrics ever.
