Changing the Face of Toy Brands

By April 8, 2015 November 1st, 2022 No Comments

What happened when a woman in Tasmania rescued discarded Bratz dolls from second-hand shops and gave them a make-under? Something magical, actually. As artist Sonia Singh replaced the heavy make-up and club clothing with fresh faces and kid-appropriate-wear. Then, at the behest of her husband, she shared a few photos to her personal Facebook – her “tree change dolls” went viral. It turns out that girls want to play with dolls that look more natural, more like them, and that’s an incredibly refreshing message in today’s grow-up-fast world. Will one woman’s doll transformations help transform future products in the toy industry? Given the millions of YouTube views this video has received in just a few weeks, not to mention the extraordinary coverage on Reddit, Buzzfeed, and news sites around the world, toy manufacturers are certainly hearing the message…let’s hope these brands are listening.
