I’m always interested to see when brands decide to come out in support of a particular socio-political leaning. After today’s monumental Supreme Court rulings on DOMA and Prop 8, Gallo Family Vineyards showed their support via a powerful social media statement. Here’s their Facebook post:
Are they afraid of alienating anyone? Apparently not. And I think that’s great. So many brands hide behind a mask of anonymity, believing that flying under the radar is the best way to amass the largest consumer base. Maybe they’re right. However, I feel a much stronger attraction to brands whose political views echo my own – a connection that goes beyond buying on deal. So for brands looking to forge a true relationship with their buyers, a little personal statement can go a long way. (And Gallo just went way up in my book!)
