WHEN BRANDS ATTACK

The ‘80s had Reebok high tops. The ’90s had FUBU and Nautica. The 2000s had few brands actually worth remembering, but one label that will be forever linked to the 2010s is Ed Hardy, popularized by fashion legend Christian Audigier and imitated by countless others. On June 18th, the original Ed Hardy released his newest book, “Wear Your Dreams: My Life in Tattoos.”
Hardy’s book recounts the good, the bad and the ugly, from Hardy’s beginnings as an artist (complete with eyeliner-outlined “tattoos” on schoolmates), to the multi-billion dollar empire that put his name on everything from tee shirts to air fresheners, to the massive struggle to regain control of a brand gone awry.
